How do you make safety education something kids want to explore?
PROJECT OVERVIEW
To celebrate the 15th anniversary of Disney’s Wild About Safety program, the team set out to refresh the program materials and give the experience a new spark.
The goal was to honor the program’s history while creating a fresh, engaging experience for a new generation of young guests. The updated materials needed to feel familiar to longtime fans while introducing new creative elements that would make the anniversary feel like something worth celebrating.
The result was a refreshed Wild About Safety experience that brought new energy to a beloved Disney program while adding a few unexpected surprises along the way.
DESIGN CHALLENGE
The challenge was to refresh a program with an established identity and a loyal young audience without losing the familiarity that made Wild About Safety recognizable. The anniversary created an opportunity to revisit the existing materials, identify ways to make the experience more engaging, and introduce new creative elements.
The updated experience also needed to balance safety education with entertainment. The information had to remain clear and useful while feeling playful enough to capture the attention of young guests.
The goal was to create an anniversary refresh that honored the program’s history while giving families something new to discover.
MY ROLE
Creative Direction & Leadership: Owned the creative vision for the 15th-anniversary refresh, leading the development of the updated booklet, new cards, badges, safety pledge, and overall creative experience.
Writing & Editorial Leadership: Led the writing and content development for the booklet, cards, and safety pledge, while supervising freelance writers and guiding revisions to ensure the content was engaging, clear, and consistent.
Concept Development: Developed new creative concepts for the anniversary booklet, safety pledge, and badge, finding ways to introduce fresh elements while staying true to the Wild About Safety program.
Interactive & Graphic Development: Collaborated closely with the graphic designer to develop engaging games, activities, and visual elements for the booklet, ensuring the creative and content worked together as one cohesive experience.
RESULTS
Refreshed the Wild About Safety program for its 15th anniversary, giving the long-running experience a fresh creative direction.
Introduced new cards, badges, activities, and a safety pledge to expand the program experience for young guests.
Created new opportunities for interaction and engagement through games and activities designed for the anniversary materials.
Strengthened the program’s storytelling and educational experience while preserving the recognizable Wild About Safety identity.
