How do you turn a simple memento into a journey around the world?

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Kidcot Fun Stops at Epcot were ready for a makeover—one that would give young guests more ways to interact, discover, and connect with the cultures represented around World Showcase.

The goal was to refresh the experience with richer storytelling, more interactive elements, and activities that encouraged families to explore each pavilion together. The new approach needed to work across multiple countries while giving each Kidcot location its own personality and sense of place.

The result was a more engaging Kidcot experience designed to turn a stop along the World Showcase journey into an opportunity to learn, play, create, and discover something new around the world.

DESIGN CHALLENGE

The challenge was to reinvent the Kidcot Fun Stops while working within existing spaces and the established countries of World Showcase. We couldn’t simply start from scratch—the architecture, environments, cultural context, and guest flow were already in place.

Each location also needed to feel distinct and connected to the country it represented, while still functioning as part of one cohesive Kidcot experience. We had to find opportunities for new interactions, activities, and storytelling within the physical and creative constraints of each existing location.

The goal was to make Kidcot feel new again without losing the sense of place that made each stop special—using the spaces, stories, and cultures already there as the foundation for a more interactive experience.

MY ROLE

Creative Leadership & Story Development: Led the storytelling development for the refreshed Kidcot experience, shaping the narrative, creative approach, and overall guest journey across the World Showcase locations.

Writing & Guest-Facing Content: Developed copy for print collateral including activity cards, Ziploc-branded suitcases, postcards, and tabletop directional signage, ensuring each piece supported the larger story and guest experience.

Creative Concepts: Developed concepts for the Ziploc-branded suitcase designs, stickers, activity cards, and completion postcard, connecting the visual elements into a cohesive experience.

Research & Story Development: Conducted research into the countries and cultural contexts represented throughout World Showcase and compiled mood boards to help inform the creative direction and storytelling.

Cast Member Spiels & Scripts: Wrote Cast Member spiels and scripts that helped bring the Kidcot experience to life through guest interactions.

Cast Training & Enablement: Developed training materials and reference tools for Cast Members, helping them understand the experience, communicate the story, and confidently guide guests through each Kidcot stop.

RESULTS

Increased opportunities for guest engagement with Cultural Representatives, creating more meaningful interactions and helping families learn about the cultures represented throughout World Showcase.

Created a more convenient way for guests to collect, carry, and preserve their Kidcot mementos as they traveled around World Showcase.

Deepened the creative partnership with Ziploc, integrating the brand naturally into the Kidcot experience while adding practical value for guests.

Created a more cohesive experience across the World Showcase, connecting storytelling, activities, mementos, and Cast Member interactions at each Kidcot stop.
