The real adventure? Taming the chaos of the queue line.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The team at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park faced the challenge of transforming the chaotic loading of safari ride vehicles into a seamless, immersive experience, all while maintaining the wild, in-story atmosphere. I collaborated with the park’s lead graphic designer to develop a low-tech, narrative-driven solution.
MY ROLE
- Site Walks & Research: Scoped out the attraction queue line to observe how guests herd together to board the safari.
- Brainstorming: Put our creative heads together to hunt for low-tech solutions.
- Writing & Story Development: In this project, the story didn’t need a lot of roar; instead, it used simple words and color-coded loading zones to guide guests through the jungle of the queue.
RESULTS & IMPACT
- Improved the guest experience in the loading queue.
- Increased the efficiency and speed of guest loading.
- Created a solution that seamlessly blended with the theme and decor, maintaining the immersive story as if it had always been part of the environment.
