PROJECT OVERVIEW
Hasbro set out to create a My Little Pony board game that captured the colorful world, friendship, and playful spirit of the beloved franchise.
The goal was to bring the characters and personality of My Little Pony into a board game experience that felt fun, approachable, and full of the charm fans expect from Ponyville.
The result was a playful My Little Pony board game filled with friendship, fun, and a few pony-sized surprises along the way.
DESIGN CHALLENGE
The challenge was to translate the colorful world, characters, and friendship-driven spirit of My Little Pony into a cohesive board game experience. The game needed to feel unmistakably My Little Pony while remaining easy to understand, engaging to play, and fun for families.
We also needed to make sure the storytelling, gameplay, artwork, and player experience worked together as one cohesive Ponyville adventure.
The goal was to create a board game that captured the heart of My Little Pony while giving fans a fresh way to play, explore, and share a little friendship magic.
MY ROLE
Writing & Editorial: Developed and refined the game packaging copy and gameplay instructions, making copy updates throughout the final stages of development to ensure the language was clear, engaging, and aligned with the My Little Pony brand.
Engineered Product Testing: Tested the physical game and components throughout development, identifying issues and opportunities for refinement before production.
Final Game Proofs & QA: Reviewed final game proofs and production materials, checking copy, artwork, and game details to ensure the finished product was accurate, polished, and ready for launch.
RESULTS
Brought the My Little Pony brand into a new board game experience, giving fans another way to play in the world of Ponyville.
